Last night, I had the pleasure of attending The Other Art Fair at Truman’s Brewery on Brick Lane—an event that has been a pivotal part of my journey in the art world. Reflecting on last year, when I arrived as an outsider, to now stepping into my role as a curator representing Nick Fraser, this experience has been nothing short of transformative.
The Other Art Fair is more than just an exhibition; it is an immersive and dynamic space for artists, collectors, and enthusiasts to connect, engage, and share the real stories behind their work. It provides a rare and invaluable opportunity to speak directly with artists, hear about their creative processes, and witness firsthand the evolution of their artistic practices.
Reconnecting with Familiar Faces & Meeting New Talent

One of the highlights of the evening was reconnecting with Jenni Murphy, whose work has always fascinated me. Her vibrant and narrative-driven paintings encapsulate the beauty of everyday moments, often drawing inspiration from real people and their personal stories. Her approach invites collaboration, allowing individuals to contribute their own experiences, which she then weaves into her uplifting artwork.
I also had the pleasure of catching up with Ellis King, an artist whose distinctive figurative paintings explore contemporary womanhood. Her work strikes a powerful balance between bold, expressive brushstrokes and an almost unsettling realism, making each piece an intimate reflection on identity and societal expectations.
Beyond these familiar faces, I had the privilege of meeting even more incredible artists, each offering a unique and thought-provoking perspective:

Spotlight on Emerging & Established Artists
✨ Perry Scott – Our conversation about his integration of AI in art was fascinating. Perry's work pushes the boundaries of traditional painting techniques and modern technology, creating a seamless fusion of past and future.
✨ James Earley – His art is raw, emotive, and deeply impactful. Known for his poignant portrayals of social issues, James crafts pieces that provoke thought and conversation. I am especially looking forward to attending his upcoming exhibition.
✨ Calypso Bené – Her large-scale, multimedia artworks are mesmerizing. Each piece is a stunning exploration of identity and culture, reflecting personal and collective narratives in a truly captivating way.
✨ Life in Layers (Will) – I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the evolution of his layered wood art over time. His intricate 3D compositions create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, producing visually stunning and immersive pieces.
✨ Duo Studio – Known for their interactive and innovative installations, this creative duo consistently challenges the boundaries of traditional art forms. Their work is fresh, engaging, and forward-thinking.
A Standout Moment: Gandee Vasan’s Dalmatian-Themed Art & Suit
Meeting Gandee Vasan was an experience to remember! Not only does he create incredibly detailed, emotive paintings of Dalmatians, but he also arrived in a matching Dalmatian-print suit, winning my "Opening Night Outfit Award!" His work is a masterclass in photographic precision and artistic expression, beautifully capturing the elegance and personality of these striking canines. His series, including "The Grace Of The Dancing Dalmatians,"showcases his ability to blend narrative, personality, and technical mastery in a way that captivates viewers.
Reflections on My Journey as a Curator
As I continue my mission to introduce Nick Fraser’s work to galleries worldwide, The Other Art Fair serves as a reminder of how much can change in a year. What once seemed like an uncharted and unfamiliar world now feels like home—a community rich with talent, creativity, and genuine connection.
Attending this fair reinforced the importance of direct engagement in the art world—not just viewing art from a distance, but truly understanding the artist behind the work, their process, their challenges, and their stories. It’s through these interactions that real appreciation for art deepens.
Final Thoughts
Art is not just about aesthetics—it’s about stories, emotions, and human connections. Events like The Other Art Fair highlight the power of creativity to inspire, challenge, and unite. Whether you’re an artist, collector, or simply an admirer of art, I highly recommend attending future editions of the fair. It is a space where art is not only seen but felt, discussed, and celebrated.
A huge thank you to all the artists I met and reconnected with. I look forward to seeing your continued success and evolution. Until next time!
