Will Storey is a contemporary relief artist whose intricate, multi-dimensional wooden artworks explore the interplay between structure, emotion, and storytelling. Operating under the moniker Life in Layers, Storey combines traditional woodworking techniques with modern laser-cutting methods to create captivating pieces that invite viewers to delve beneath the surface.
My Story
With over two decades of experience teaching Design, Technology, and Art, Storey's passion for the creative process is deeply rooted in education and craftsmanship. In 2018, a successful crowdfunding campaign enabled him to establish a dedicated studio space, allowing him to fully immerse himself in his artistic practice.
Storey's work is characterised by its meticulous layering of wood, resulting in relief sculptures that are both visually complex and emotionally resonant. Each piece is a harmonious blend of form and narrative, reflecting his belief in the profound impact of art on both creator and viewer.
