My Story

Mark Force, a West London native, is a defining figure in the broken beat scene, both as a DJ and producer. From picking up his first turntables at age 11, he cut his teeth on hip‑hop and jungle before helping shape the sound of Bugz in the Attic, the legendary collective behind the 2006 album Back in the Doghouse. Over the years, he’s released solo work like Smoke It, and remained a powerful presence on the decks.

As one of only two remaining members of Bugz in the Attic today, alongside Afronaut, Mark carries forward the group's legacy, blending broken beat with soulful house, nu-jazz, and future boogie . His sets span classic cuts and fresh tunes, bridging generations and settings.

What’s even more powerful is witnessing his return to the live scene in recent years, stepping back into the spotlight with the same fearless creativity, drawing fresh energy from his roots. Whether in intimate club settings or behind the decks at some of the UK's most respected events, Mark is reconnecting the dots between past and present and proving that broken beat never truly left, it just evolved.

More than just a producer or DJ, Mark is a mentor, a movement-maker, and a living bridge between the pioneers and the new wave. His legacy continues not only in his discography, but in the countless artists and young people he's helped along the way. It’s a privilege to know him, to have worked with him and to see him shine once again, this time on his own terms. He's also a key founder of the iconic Co-Op club night at Plastic People, which shaped London’s dance music culture. With solo mixes, festival slots, and collaborations under his belt, Mark continues to innovate and uplift the scene.

“I had the pleasure of working alongside Mark Force for over a decade, running a music studio in North London for young people. Together, we delivered weekly production classes, holiday programmes and alternative education for those in need of a creative outlet. It was an honour to learn from Mark—not just about his deep musical knowledge and broken beat legacy, but about the patience and dedication he brings to nurturing others. As a mentor and an artist, his impact runs deep. I’m proud to know him as a friend and collaborator and it’s been a privilege to witness his journey evolve as he continues to reignite the scene he helped pioneer. Watching him rise again with the same fire that built a movement is nothing short of inspiring.” — Marcus Imaginative Reaction Founder
