My Story
Linda studied art for five years at St Albans College of Art & Design, initially specialising in sculpture and oils before developing a lasting passion for watercolour. Her work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries with both The Society of Wildlife Artists and The Society of Women Artists, and she exhibits regularly at local shows.
Formerly Head of Art at St Hilda’s School, Harpenden, Linda has also illustrated several children’s books and designed greeting cards for commercial companies in England and the USA.
In recent years she has explored mixed media and enjoys working with found objects. She is currently creating a sculpture of an owl for Beech Hyde Primary School’s new Wildlife Forest.
Linda lives in Wheathampstead, paints most days, and leads a small art class at Childwickbury, St Albans.
Gallery
It was a pleasure to meet Linda at our recent Imaginative Reaction workshop in Burston, where she attended alongside her daughter and granddaughter, who was enthusiastically taking part in the artwork. Hearing Linda share her creative journey.. from her early training in sculpture and oils to her enduring love of watercolour and mixed media, was both inspiring and deeply moving.
What felt especially meaningful was witnessing three generations connected through creativity in the same space. We were delighted not only to offer her granddaughter the opportunity to explore and express herself, but also to create a platform for Linda to share her own work and story more widely.
There is a wonderful charm and sense of playfulness in Linda’s work.
Her paintings and mixed media pieces carry a lightness and warmth that invite us to reconnect with our inner child, to notice, to imagine, and to find joy in the small details of the world around us. It is this ability to blend skill with sincerity and fun that makes her work so engaging and memorable.
