Broadcasting Legacy: Carrying Nick Fraser’s Story Through the Airwaves

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the honour of joining three very different radio platforms to speak about the life and work of Nick Fraser, an artist, friend, and mentor whose story continues to unfold long after his passing.
From a local St Albans studio to the creative buzz of Camden and Hertfordshire airwaves, each conversation offered a space to reflect not only on Nick’s journey, but on my own from losing a career I thought defined me, to becoming a curator and community builder for the voices that often go unheard.
St Albans Mix 92.6 - The Parents Show with Lydia

My first stop was with Lydia on the Parents Show at Mix 92.6, where I spoke about the foundations of this journey.. my transition from music and youth work into curation, and how discovering Nick’s unseen body of work became a turning point in my life.
It was powerful to speak on a local station that understands the importance of grassroots stories, because that's exactly how this began. A friendship between my father and Nick, nurtured over decades. A flat in East London filled with 30 years’ worth of art that no one had seen. And a decision to bring that work and the man behind it, into the light.
I then got to share all about the upcoming Young Creatives Art Exhibition at Burston this summer.
Voices Radio – The Crossword Lyric Show with Milli Rose

The next invitation was something more personal. Milli Rose was once one of my students and now, she’s a talented Singer, radio host, poet, and creative in her own right. Joining her on Voices Radio in Camden was a full-circle moment neither of us could have scripted. We opened with poetry and music, then sat down to talk about how we met and our journeys since. I spoke about the raw emotion that Nick painted from, and the work I’ve been doing through Imaginative Reaction, the platform I founded to amplify underrepresented artists and youth voices. I had a chance to give a new track I created 'Smooth' a spin and that recieved good vibes all round in the studio.
There was laughter, reflection, and real openness. In a world where so much content feels rushed, this was slow, soulful radio. It reminded me why this work matters and how far one act of belief can go.
Vibe 107.6 FM Breakfast Show – With Claire Hastier

Lastly I had the pleasure of joining Claire Hastier on the Vibe FM Breakfast Show and I have to say, it was a warm and welcoming conversations met with great energy for the morning! Claire had clearly done her research. She understood Nick’s story, the complexity, the hidden life, the identity he never felt safe enough to express. But she also grasped the bigger picture: why legacy curation is about mental health, belonging, and platform-building.
We discussed the emotional toll of doing this work independently, and why it’s important that visibility be met with care. We shared all the news on the upcoming Young Creatives Exhibition taking place on August 3rd at Burston Garden Centre, and the many young artists who are about to see their work in a gallery space for the very first time.
It was affirming — and it was deeply appreciated. Each radio appearance felt like another brick in the foundation.
Melorism:
'The belief that we can contribute to positive change and improve the world through acts of love, creativity, compassion and kindness'
Nick’s story is about more than art. It’s about grief, mental health, sexuality, friendship, and the human need to express what we carry. Through these interviews, I’ve had the chance to honour his voice — and to invite others into the process of continuing it.
To everyone who tuned in, hosted, or supported the journey so far: thank you.
